What Happens if an Agent Is Absent?
A fair question, and one this page answers honestly rather than reassuringly.
This is one of the most important questions a prospective client can ask, and it is worth an honest answer rather than a confident-sounding one. Continuity at a two-agent scale is real, but it has limits, and pretending otherwise would set an expectation we could not meet.
Attendance tracking
Scheduled hours are tracked against hours actually staffed, and reported to you as part of standard reporting. You are not billed for hours that were not worked.
Planned absence
Planned leave is flagged with notice, and where the campaign allows it, cover is arranged in advance. This is straightforward to manage because it is known ahead of time.
Unplanned absence — sickness, and why the two-agent minimum matters here
This is exactly the situation our two-agent minimum exists for. A single agent has no cover at all when they are unexpectedly unwell — coverage simply stops. A two-agent team continues, at reduced capacity, rather than going dark. We tell you when this happens rather than quietly under-delivering the staffed hours.
Internet or power failure
Individual connectivity issues are handled with backup connectivity where practically available, and by routing to the second agent on the team where the campaign allows it. We will not claim a guaranteed uptime figure for individual agent connectivity, because that would not be honest at this scale — what we commit to is transparency about disruption when it happens, and a real continuity plan rather than an assumption that it will not.
Cross-training
Where a team covers more than one channel, agents are cross-trained so that a gap in one channel can be partially absorbed by redirecting attention, rather than leaving it entirely uncovered.
Temporary workload allocation
During a gap, priority work is triaged and lower-priority work is deferred with your knowledge, rather than silently dropped.
Replacement planning
For extended absence, replacement or additional temporary capacity is discussed directly with you rather than assumed. This is covered in full on the agent replacement page.
FAQs on this stage
How is attendance handled?
Agent attendance is reported alongside campaign activity, so you can see the hours actually staffed against the hours you are paying for.
What happens if an agent is absent?
Planned absence is covered by arranging cover in advance where the campaign allows it. Unplanned absence is where a two-agent minimum earns its keep — your coverage is reduced rather than eliminated. We tell you when it happens rather than quietly under-delivering hours.
